3rd Wave HotSpot Network to Change Name to Ripple WiFi - and it's Still Free!21 May 2006
Mike Landman, CEO of IT services firm Ripple, announced that the free 3rd Wave HotSpot network will now be known as Ripple WiFi. "We realized that our 3rd Wave HotSpot network was simply another way that Ripple empowers small business employees to use technology as a competitive advantage," Landman said, "so we decided to consolidate the brands under the Ripple name to avoid confusion." Nothing else will change about the network. The ownership and management remain intact. The network's 20,000+ users will still be able to use any of their favorite hotspots as they have before, except that the SSID of the network will now show up as "Ripple Free HotSpot" instead of "3rd Wave Free HotSpot."
