Appear Networks Announces Record Sales of Intelligent Wireless

28 January 2005

Appear Networks, a leading provider of intelligent wireless communication
platforms for mobile workforces, today announced record sales and strong
revenue growth for Fiscal Year 2004. Appear Networks attributes its strong
financial performance to continued investment in the development of advanced
data-filtering technology, ergonomic user interfaces and distributed
architectures. Since 2000, Appear has been developing an intelligent
communication platform that enables location-aware applications and connects
mobile workers with instant access to voice, data and video communications.

"With a long-term focus on the enterprise market, Appear has proven the
scalability of its business model based on license sales," says Ann-Louise
Palm, CEO of Appear Networks. "Appear focused on large accounts with
long-selling cycles including train operators, airports, airlines, and local
councils who are now delivering solid recurring revenues. Ninety percent of
our customers who acquired an initial pilot license of the Appear software
are now rolling it out in their network".

Appear Networks' intelligent communication platform enables on-site
mobile workers to access location-aware enterprise applications and VoIP
services securely transmitted over standard wirelessly enabled networks.
Appear's patented Click & Run (TM) technology provides a browserless,
one-button-click access to mobile applications, eliminating time-consuming
installation and configuration processes. Appear's context-aware engine
filters information through pre-programmed parameters (location as well as
user profile, device-type, or access speed) based on advanced algorithms,
guaranteeing the delivery of up-to-date, accurate information to authorized
employees. In a highly mobile environment, easily accessing key data at the
point of work enhances employees' ability to perform critical tasks --
increasing employee productivity, improving customer service and reducing
costs.

Major customers currently deploying Appear's wireless communication
platform include:

- Dutch Railroad (NS)
- Stockholm Local Transport Authority (SL)
- Connex (Veolia Environnement)
- Paris Subway and Buses (RATP)
- French Railway (SNCF)
- Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) Technical Services
- France Telecom
- Kista Science City, Sweden
- City of Essen, Germany

Appear Networks was recently selected as one of the best-performing and
innovative high-tech private companies of Europe and Israel in the fourth
annual Tornado100 list. "The companies Tornado Insider selected are Europe's
technology stars," said Niels Valkering, Tornado Insider's Head of Research.
"Combining internal analysis with advice from industry specialists, we
identified the elite of Europe's high-tech entrepreneurial vanguard,
appreciating excellence both in innovative, commercial and financial
performance. Watch these companies in 2005, as the technology they are
commercializing today will change tomorrow's trends."

The Tornado award marks the 15th industry commendation that Appear
Networks has received over the past three years. Appear Networks continued
success in product awards, technology patents has enabled the company to
secure its position as the most highly regarded wireless communication
platform on the market today. "We are honored that our efforts have been
recognized by Tornado Insider in its ranking of the Top 100 start-ups in
Europe," comments Ann-Louise Palm. "Appear Networks has clearly demonstrated
its leadership, innovation in product development, and market penetration
momentum in Europe in 2004."
