BelAir Networks and Lucent Tech. to Provide Advanced Wireless Network for Global Business Conference

3 July 2005

Taipei, Taiwan – BelAir Networks and Lucent Technologies ( NYSE:LU ) today announced that they will provide a wireless broadband network to supply data services to attendees at the Global Business Dialogue on Electronic Commerce ( GBDe ) conference, to be held at the Taipei Grand Hotel from June 30 – July 1, 2005.

The GBDe is a worldwide, CEO-led business initiative, established in January 1999 to assist the development of a global policy framework for the online economy. The conference is hosted by Chunghwa Telecom ( CHT ), one of the most experienced and largest integrated telecommunications operators in Taiwan.

The Belair Networks and Lucent wireless infrastructure will allow conference attendees and presenters a way to share information and ideas quickly and easily. The network is being provided under the global agreement the two companies announced earlier this year. Under that agreement, Lucent Worldwide Services ( LWS ) and BelAir work together to pursue joint business opportunities by making BelAir’s family of advanced wireless networking products available through Lucent’s global sales channels to service providers, enterprises and government accounts. Lucent Worldwide Services enhances BelAir’s offer by providing a full suite of services including deployment, maintenance, professional and managed services.

“The BelAir Networks approach to advanced wireless networking has a strong track record of success in the hospitality and metro sectors,” said Maurice Liu, Chairman and President, Lucent Technologies Taiwan Telecommunications. “BelAir’s multi-service architecture and its unique approach for providing wireless broadband coupled with the Lucent services expertise makes it an ideal solution for hotels where high capacity must be integrated with ease-of-implementation and a discrete design that blends into the environment.”

Lucent and BelAir Networks will install five BelAir200 four-radio wireless multi-service switch routers to support carrier-grade voice, video and data services at the GBDe conference.

“We are proud to work with our partners, Lucent Taiwan and Chunghwa Telecom, to provide high-speed Internet access to GBDe conference attendees,” said Bernard Herscovich, president and chief executive officer, BelAir Networks. “It’s an honor to have our wireless mesh networking solution chosen for this prestigious global conference.”

The BelAir Networks Family of Products
BelAir Networks currently markets three wireless networking products; the single radio BelAir 50c wireless mesh cluster node, the dual-radio BelAir100 wireless multi-service node and the four-radio BelAir200 wireless multi-service switch router.

The BelAir50c, the BelAir100, the BelAir200 and the BelAir BelView Network Management System ( NMS ) combine to form the most comprehensive product family in the industry. BelAir’s hardware products are supported by the BelView Network Management System. The BelView NMS is a comprehensive software package that allows network operators to easily configure, monitor and manage a complete network built with any combination of BelAir infrastructure products.

BelAir’s products are focused on advanced Wi-Fi today, but the unique multi-radio wireless backhaul mesh architecture can also be applied to other wireless technologies such as WiMAX and cellular.
