BIO-key Receives $825,000 Award for Information Sharing Capability Across Thirteen Law Enforcement Agencies and Two Counties31 May 2006
BIO-key International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, announced today that it has received an award valued at more than $825,000 to provide mobile data, field reporting, and data sharing information that will be integrated with existing records management and dispatch systems across thirteen law enforcement agencies in Washington and Chisago, Minnesota counties. Located northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul and bordering Wisconsin, Washington and Chisago counties have a combined population of nearly 300,000 people. When fully implemented, the thirteen law enforcement agencies that comprise both Washington and Chisago counties will have over 200 mobile units deployed with real time, silent, and secure access to local, state and national criminal justice databases. The planned addition of Fire and EMS agencies in the counties will expand the network to provide an even greater level of public safety communication integration. "We are pleased to have been selected by Washington and Chisago counties, adding to our already substantial customer base both in the state of Minnesota and across North America. In this era of increased focus on homeland security, BIO-key's Law Enforcement solutions provide inter-operability among multiple agencies, enabling them to communicate seamlessly and share information in real time," said Ken Souza, BIO-key's General Manager for Law Enforcement.
