Celerus Networks® Introduces All-In-One Wireless Management Solution for Multi-Purpose Wireless (Wi-Fi) Access

3 May 2005

Celerus Networks launches feature-rich wireless management software enabling delivery of secure enterprise and public access in an easy-to-use all-in-one package. Celerus’ Service Management Platform – Standard Edition (SMP-SE) is ideal for deploying free or fee-based Wi-Fi services in single and multi-site, enterprise and public access environments including retail, property management, municipal, and government.

Installing in less than 30 minutes, the SMP-SE is a complete wireless management product including client service management, network management, wireless portals, email, and multimedia server permitting it to deliver Wi-Fi services for a wide range of employee and public access environments.

“The Celerus package makes it easy for organizations of any size to enjoy enterprise and public access Wi-Fi services equal to those offered by large operators and national franchises”, said Mark Corbitt, Celerus’ Chairman.

The SMP-SE additionally features full VPN protection of network & customer data overcoming limitations of many currently deployed Wi-Fi networks. Celerus’ secure architecture supports multi-service (shared) wireless access allowing one network to deliver tailored wireless services to specific groups, such as employees, visitors and guests. With the SMP-SE one can easily:

-   Deliver wireless Internet access to hundreds of locations
-   Create and manage client services
-   Monitor health and status of the network
-   Create and customize wireless portals via WYSIWYG interface
-   Deliver customized advertising, branding or public interest information
-   Securely manage the network from any workstation

The SMP package includes Novell’s Suse Linux operating system and Celerus Network’s Wireless Configuration Planner for easy setup. The product is compatible with popular virtualization software permitting the SMP-SE to operate on Window’s based PCs. The solution is scalable to serve virtually any size deployment and is administered by an intuitive browser-based interface. The SMP supports industry standards and is extensible to WiMax technology.

The Celerus SMP-SE will be offered in configurations for organizations of all sizes. In a program aimed to support public wireless initiatives the SMP-SE will be available in a service-supported offering. The program will include educational and Not-For-Profit use.

Celerus Networks’ products are available directly from Celerus or its partners. Scheduled availability is May 31. Additional versions of the SMP platform tailored for specific markets will be announced.
