EE Times Launches Wireless Networking DesignLine Web site20 January 2005
CMP Media's EE Times announced today the launch of the Wireless Networking DesignLine Web site (http://www.WirelessNetDesignLine.com), an online resource developed by engineers for engineers in the wireless communications industry. The site content consists of contributed articles and provides design solutions, news and industry standards. "The wireless networking segment continues to be one of the hottest sectors in the communications market, despite a downturn in other sectors," said Robert Keenan, Wireless Networking DesignLine editor. "And, with new technologies like UWB and ZigBee arriving, the wireless networking sector will continue to show strong growth. Through the Wireless Networking DesignLine, we are providing engineers with a resource that will help them solve pressing design issues and accelerate the development of wireless systems and equipment." Wireless Networking DesignLine fills an informational void for engineers and engineering managers, providing practical, how-to design information, technical and standards-related resources, product announcements and reviews, expert advice and analysis, insights into industry trends, blogs and forums, and breaking news focused on the following key areas:
* WiFi (IEEE 802.11 specifications) * WiMax (IEEE 802.16 specifications) * Bluetooth * Ultrawideband (UWB) * ZigBee/Wireless Mesh Networking
Also featured at Wireless Networking DesignLine is the TechLibrary section, which features a series of links to resources about communications system design and standards, including UWB and Bluetooth specifications, International Engineering Consortium (IEC) tutorials, Wireless LAN (WLAN) specifications and WiMAX specifications. Robert Keenan, editor of WirelessNetDesignLine.com, started covering the wireless industry in the mid-1990s when the cellular phone service started to blossom. At the time, Keenan drove the editorial direction of several publications aimed at developers of wireless systems and equipment. Over the next decade, Keenan worked throughout the technology and communications industry, first at a start up and as a Web site editor. Later, Keenan took over the helm of CMP Media's Communications Systems Design magazine which became http://CommsDesign.com, a leading communication design Web site that he still runs today. Through it all, Keenan has continued to track the cellular and wireless networking sectors, covering the evolution of WLANs, the move to 3G, and the development of new technologies like WiMAX and UWB. Wireless Networking DesignLine represents CMP Media's third in a series of vertically micro-segmented Web sites for design engineers involved in designing electronic systems. The site complements CMP's existing suite of products covering wireless networking techniques and technologies, including the upcoming Wireless Networking Design Seminar at the Embedded Systems Conference San Francisco, March 9-10, 2005, and CommsDesign.com.
