Evolving Systems Launches Tertio(TM) 7 Service Activation at 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona

13 February 2007

Evolving Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: EVOL), a leading provider of software solutions and services to the wireless, wireline and IP carrier market, today announced a major new release of its Tertio(TM) service activation operations support system (OSS).

The service activation OSS is a critical lever for improving a service provider's competitiveness. Described as the "central nervous system" of a service provider, the service activation OSS coordinates a service provider's response to the market forces shaping service offerings and service delivery.

Recognized as #1 in wireless service activation by industry analyst the Yankee Group, Evolving Systems' Tertio solution helps service providers address such major challenges as voice price erosion, consolidation, fixed/mobile convergence, and competition between service providers and others in supplying digital content. Tertio 7's new applications and enhanced features provide the most complete solution for the entire service development lifecycle, helping service providers increase competitiveness, improve efficiency and reduce costs.

New solution architecture

The Tertio 7 solution enables service providers to completely re-tool the service development process, dramatically reducing the effort and risk as service lifecycles shorten. Services can be bundled using an active service model assembled from service delivery resources across the supply chain - on net, wholesale or unbundled. With a more efficient service development process, operational costs can be lowered.

The Tertio 7 solution architecture is comprised of key business and foundation capabilities providing common tools that help to improve productivity and lower training costs across the entire solution. The business capabilities are:

-- Service Assembly -- A model-driven approach to service assembly that

reduces the time-to-market for new services.

-- Service Verification -- Increase customer satisfaction while improving

utilization and data quality of resources.

-- Service Activation -- A proven choice for service providers seeking to

improve, consolidate and future-proof their service activation systems.

-- Service Delivery Integration -- Reduce integration cost and risk, while

increasing business agility, through both pre-integration and

standards-based integration (SOA, XML, SOAP, LDAP).

New -- Tertio Service Verification

Service providers need to proactively improve the consistency of subscriber service configuration in resources like traditional home location registers (HLR), next generation HLRs, and the home subscriber server (HSS) defined in IMS/TISPAN standards. Finding and correcting inconsistencies not only helps to increase customer satisfaction but also improves the utilization and data quality of resources in preparation for migration to next generation SDP/IMS service layers. The Tertio Service Verification solution:

-- Reveals inconsistencies in subscriber service configuration to improve

customer satisfaction, service usage and revenue

-- Improves the utilization of resources by identifying orphan entries

-- Allows a more proactive, user-centric approach by enabling selective

targeting of subscribers based on group membership, entitlements or

activity

-- Enables service providers to comply with commercial requirements to

report on service configuration for sales channels/MVNOs

-- Enables the proactive measurement and improvement of service activation

processes accuracy and consistency

New -- Tertio Service Activation Distributed Architecture

When choosing the IT platform for business applications, service providers need to optimize the hardware and operating platform for cost of ownership as well as the application workload and service level. For mission-critical applications such as the service activation OSS, this flexibility is particularly important to IT departments being asked to reduce costs without compromising the level and quality of service they provide.

The Tertio 7 release adds multi-vendor support for full application distribution across large numbers of servers, adding the option to scale out (horizontally) as well as up (vertically). Horizontal scalability allows a service provider to start with smaller, low cost servers and easily expand the system as demand increases. It also enables greater flexibility when planning platform transition or consolidation. The result is a substantial reduction in cost of providing a highly scalable and reliable platform together with enhanced business agility.

Enhanced features

The Tertio 7 application suite provides a number of enhancements, most notably in the areas of improved operations and administration, easier configuration of activation tasks, and service order sequencing and scheduling. The enhancements were made in response to customer and partner feedback as well as Evolving Systems' own service and support teams.

The Tertio 7 release also improves the application's alignment to TM Forum standards and programs as well as a clearer alignment with the main NGOSS components, notably the eTOM business process framework and SID business entity model. The release is also aligned with integration standards, such as the OSS/J Order Management API, JSR 264, that can be implemented to help reduce the "integration tax".

Commenting on the release, Thad Dupper, president of Evolving Systems, said, "Tertio 7 represents a major new release of our service activation solution. The Release provides new applications and enhanced features as well as improved efficiency, faster deployment times and reduced costs."

Evolving Systems will be exhibiting at 3GSM Barcelona as part of TeleManagement Forum Member's Pavilion situated in Hall 2, Level 0, Stand 2H47.
