Fast Transactions, LLC Announced Wireless Web-Enabled Order Entry-Order Management

29 January 2005

FAST Transactions, LLC, a technology solutions developer based here, today announced the availability of a web-enabled order entry-order management system that fully automates the field sales process and significantly increases salespersons’ selling time by totally eliminating the need for written orders and reports, it was announced today by Dennis A. Murray, founder and president.

FAST (Fully Automated Sales Technology) employs an intuitive graphical interface that guides salespersons through the order process and enables them to capture order details on wirelessly web-enabled HP iPAQ PDAs as quickly as their customers speak, Murray said. Upon completion, orders are transmitted instantly via the Internet to the manufacturers or distributors for immediate processing and same-day shipping.

“Field salespeople spend a large portion of their day writing orders or writing daily reports, so going paperless and wireless is a natural next step in the evolution of the sales process” Murray said. “Companies that adopt this approach realize an immediate reduction of their sales admin staff, and a substantial increase in business by processing orders as they occur – not days later. Same-day shipments not only become possible but routine. More important, FAST creates sales force productivity increases through more effective customer visits and the total elimination of paperwork.”

FAST consists of two software elements – FAST Order Entry for the PDA, and the FAST Sales Management program installed at the customers’ site. FAST Order Entry allows the salesperson to capture accurate orders with only a few strokes of the stylus through an intuitive GUI that is custom tailored to each customer’s products and company. Upon completion of an order FAST transmits the details via the Internet to the Sales Manager module for immediate processing.

The Sales Management program performs a number of functions, including order processing, creating and sending purchase orders, faxes, emails, invoices, packing slips and even UPS labels to any computer or fax machine upon the occurrence of each order. FAST also contains a rules-based commission accounting engine that calculates commissions on every sale. Small manufacturers and distributors can take immediate advantage of FAST’s built-in management reports and account maintenance features. Fully compatible with back office software, FAST requires no changes to existing company software programs.

“This technology will soon become standard practice for every company that employs field sales people no matter which market is addressed -- from pet products to aircraft parts to beauty supplies,” Murray predicted. “FAST is a very effective, very low cost solution -- in the range of $1,000 per rep. It takes only days to implement, produces immediate results, and pays for itself in only a few weeks.”

FAST was initially developed with an eye towards the pet and gift markets, both of which are challenged by the presence of thousands of different products, hundreds of suppliers, thousands of customers, and a virtual army of not-very-productive independent reps, Murray said.

“These markets are characterized by high rep turnover because of a built-in, self-defeating paradox,” he said. “The more successful the rep, the more time must be devoted to paperwork. Many find themselves spending as much time on paperwork as on selling. By eliminating all paperwork and reports, FAST potentially doubles the number of sales calls a salesperson can make in a day, improving salespersons’ performance, and their income.”
