FierceWireless and Bluefire Security Technologies Partner to Conduct Wireless Security Survey

29 March 2006

Bluefire Security Technologies, Inc. - - a leading developer of security solutions for mobile devices -- is partnering with the wireless industry's top daily newsletter, FierceWireless - - to survey mobile users about security issues. The survey can be accessed at http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB2255JUBHE2F

The FierceWireless - Bluefire Wireless Security Survey focuses on the attitudes, practices, and concerns of individual and enterprise users with respect to the security of various wireless applications, including email, Internet access, and voice communications.

The survey also examines the occurrence of specific security scenarios -- from lost or stolen devices to viruses and network intrusion -- as well as users' concerns about wireless security and their knowledge and use of various security measures (including VPN, firewalls, authentication, and encryption).

"With wireless devices being used increasingly to manage ever-more complicated applications, it is essential that we get a handle on the vulnerability of those devices to security threats," says Bluefire CEO Mark Komisky. "All users, from enterprises to individuals, need to know how to best protect their devices and who is ultimately responsible for device or network security."

"Our readers are sophisticated in their wireless use as well as issues influencing the global industry," adds Jeff Giesea, Publisher of FierceWireless. "Network security is a critical area of concern and we feel it is our responsibility to bring our subscribers the most up-to-date perspective on the industry's happenings."

The FierceWireless - Bluefire Wireless Security Survey initially has been introduced to regular subscribers of both FierceWireless and its companion online publication, IT Security.

Copies of the survey will be distributed to attendees at two of the wireless industry's largest annual conferences, the Smart Phone Summit (taking place Tuesday April 4 in Las Vegas) and the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) Conference (April 5-7, also in Las Vegas).

More than 35,000 individuals are expected to attend the two Las Vegas industry conferences. Attendees will represent the complete wireless, mobile computing and wireless Internet industries.

FierceWireless and Bluefire anticipate releasing preliminary survey results in early April. Final results will be announced mid-May.
