Fine Point Network's ServPoET Broadband Management Server Granted Acceptance by USDA's Rural Utilities Services (RUS)

2 March 2006

NEW YORK, Jan. 4 -- Fine Point Networks, a division of Fine Point Technologies, a leading provider of network broadband management solutions, today announced that the ServPoET Broadband Management Server (BMS) Product Family have been granted product acceptance by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Services (RUS). This makes ServPoET the first RUS-accepted Advanced TCA PPPoE management solution and means that ServPoET BMS Product Family can now be purchased using RUS loans and grants, allowing rural carriers to take advantage of ServPoET for managing PPPoE on their networks.

RUS administers several programs for improving the quality of life in rural America by financing telecommunications infrastructure, including the Rural Broadband Access Loan and Loan Guarantee program. Since its inception, RUS has made available almost 3 billion dollars for the construction, improvement, and acquisition of facilities and equipment for the introduction of broadband service to eligible rural communities.

"We are honored to be granted this prestigious designation by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and we share its vision and commitment to provide underserved rural communities triple-play high speed broadband services," said Kenneth Oliver, Director, Solutions Sales of Fine Point Networks. "With this endorsement, Fine Point Networks can assist our government's goal of achieving ubiquitous national broadband service by providing rural carriers with scalable subscriber management systems."

The ServPoET BMS 1000, built upon Advanced TCA platform, is ideally suited to the rural marketplace as it provides carrier grade reliability and redundancy in a cost affordable next generation platform. The ServPoET BMS 1000 is already servicing AllCoNet2, a rural county broadband network built by Allegany County, Maryland as well as FairPoint Communications one of the largest rural telephone providers in the US that operates 28 telephone companies in 17 states.
