Firetide Launches Certification Program to Drive Best Practices in Wireless Mesh Networking25 April 2006
In response to the market's demand for greater wireless expertise, Firetide, Inc., a leading developer of wireless mesh networks launched a new program to educate and certify its value added resellers on the latest advancements in mesh networking. Under the program, which includes online courseware, product Web-casts, and hands on training, VARs will learn best practices in wireless network deployment and receive up-to-date information on Firetide's award winning mesh technology. "The number of wireless mesh network installations has increased dramatically in the last year creating a growing need for VARs and system integrators who understand and can fully support new applications for mesh technology," said Bo Larsson, CEO of Firetide. "We are raising the bar to ensure our VARs achieve quantifiable expertise in wireless mesh network design and deployment. Our channel partners will get the knowledge they need to ensure fast and successful installations that meet their customers' requirements for data throughput, reliability, and security." The curriculum covers fundamental training and certification on wireless technology plus training on the configuration and advanced features of Firetide's HotPort mesh networks and HotView Pro mesh management software. Each certification track concludes with a two-day hands-on classroom session that will prepare the VARs for the challenges they will encounter during site surveys and installations. The participants are encouraged to bring to class the scenarios they are working on for group discussion. Firetide offers two certifications: Firetide Certified Technical Expert (FCTE) and Firetide Certified Educator Expert (FCEE). To achieve certification, the VARs need to meet technology knowledge prerequisites, attend Firetide technical Web-casts, attend Firetide Product Specialist two- day instructor-led training class, and pass the required tests. Those achieving FCEE certification will be able to train others on Firetide products. The certification program's training and testing locations currently include China and selected cities throughout the U.S., with additional U.S. and international locations to be announced in the future.
