ICOA Powering Broadband Services at 22nd and 23rd Airports and Sees 76% Growth in Usage6 October 2005
ICOA, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ICOA), a national provider of wireless broadband Internet networks and managed services in high-traffic public locations, announced today the launching of broadband service into its 22nd and 23rd airport facilities with full-airport Wi-Fi coverage for Westchester County Airport (HPN), located in White Plains, NY and Outagamie County Regional Airport (ATW), located in Appleton, WI. With the addition of HPN and ATW, ICOA services 14 airports nationally with full-facility Wi-Fi coverage and wireless and wired service covering select high-traffic areas within 9 additional airports. In ICOA airport networks operational since September 2004, the company has seen a 76% increase in network utilization. Over the same timeframe, ICOA's airport footprint has expanded from 7 to 23 facilities, a 228% increase, and network coverage of airport facility annual passengers has increased from 20 million to over 60 million, a 200% increase. HPN serves approximately 1 million passengers annually. The new broadband wireless network, first operational on September 1, 2005, covers the entire airport facility. The airport is owned and operated by Westchester County. ATW serves over 600,000 passengers annually. The new broadband wireless network covers the entire airport facility. The airport is owned and operated by Outagamie County. The public service does not require users to install or use proprietary software. Passengers with Wi-Fi-enabled laptops or PDAs will be able to connect to the Internet to check their e-mail, access their corporate servers, download documents and surf the Web with unlimited access from anywhere in the airport. Airport information, such as flight schedules, ground transportation information, passenger services and security bulletins can also be accessed from the Wi-Fi portals at each airport facility.
