Industry-First Integrated Video Test for 3G Networks9 February 2005
Tektronix announced the K15 version 2.1 for its market leading wireless network monitoring platform that provides the ability to analyze H.324M video telephony quality of service by monitoring the UMTS core network Iu-CS interface. Customers are able to obtain deeper video quality analysis by sharing the video files with the Tektronix MTS4EA Elementary Stream Analyzer to investigate and analyze compressed video data.
The introduction of third generation mobile systems has enabled mobile network operators to offer a new range of mobile service to subscribers. The traditional voice offering is now complemented by a multitude of new services like video telephony, video streaming, video clip download and mobile web surfing. Customer satisfaction is key for value creation, and mobile network operators have to be able to monitor and manage the quality of the service they deliver to subscribers.
The K15 version 2.1 is able to display all video telephony calls going in a live 3G mobile network. Customers are able to select H.324M video calls on the Iu-CS interface, calculate key performance indicators (KPIs) and extract the voice/video stream of each H.324M video call. The data can be loaded into a Tektronix MTS4EA elementary video stream analysis tool for complete Video Quality of Service (VQoS) analysis.
"Network operators understand that video content can not be treated as data in the network," said Alois Hauk, Vice President and General Manager, Monitoring & Protocol Test, Tektronix. "Tektronix' unmatched expertise in video quality testing and recognized leadership in mobile protocol monitoring solutions, are now integrated to offer the most powerful 3G video test in the market. The integration of these products dramatically expands support for mobile network operators by enabling them to perform a deep analysis on the transmitted video quality of service."
