IPWireless Wins CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine Innovation Award

28 April 2005

IPWireless today announced that it won an Innovation Award in the wireless category from CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine.

Network Magazine went through an extensive selection process to select the companies with the best innovations. Technology experts analyzed submissions and editor's picks for more than five months and have come up with the top 30 based on the most outstanding and distinctive products and/or services.

According to Network Magazine's website, the award recognizes the most influential, most visionary, and best product breakthrough companies for a number of different product categories. Categories include convergence, network hardware, security, servers, infrastructure software, data services, application-aware infrastructure, storage, wireless, and network and systems management. IPWireless won the best product breakthrough award for the wireless products category.

IPWireless provides Mobile Broadband, an advanced wireless communications technology that combines the speed of broadband with the freedom of cellular. With speeds as fast or faster than fixed-line options like DSL or cable, the IPWireless Mobile Broadband solution gives subscribers an instantaneous broadband connection that is affordable, reliable, and convenient, all without wires. By using a plug-and-play PC Card (PCMCIA) or small desktop modem, subscribers can enjoy secure, real-time access to data wherever they are in the coverage area -- at home, at work, or on the road, even when moving at vehicular speeds.

"Network Magazine's mission is to look beyond the technologies and methodologies that are hot today, concentrating instead on the architectures that will dominate IT a couple years from now," said Art Wittmann, editor-in-chief, Network Magazine. "Given that, the winners of the 2005 Innovation Awards are true innovators that we believe will change the rules of the game. These are innovations that will enable IT organizations to substantially better meet the needs of their business."

"IPWireless' Mobile Broadband products are being used by subscribers in more than 30 countries and we pride ourselves on providing the most innovative solutions to our customers," said Chris Gilbert, chief executive officer, IPWireless. "We are honored to be recognized for this prestigious award by CMP Media LLC's Network Magazine."

IPWireless' Mobile Broadband technology is based on UMTS TDD, the 3G standard optimized for high-speed data. It can be used by operators and manufacturers worldwide and has emerged as the leading standard for mobile broadband, with deployments in several countries around the world including Australia, Germany, Malaysia, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, and the United States. The commercially proven Mobile Broadband system includes a complete network infrastructure, pocket-sized wireless desktop modems, and PC cards (PCMCIA) for laptops and PDAs. In addition, major equipment makers are developing a variety of network management and end user devices, including mobile voice over IP handsets and Compact Flash cards, with IPWireless-licensed UMTS TDD chipsets embedded.

About IPWireless
