ISONAS Security Systems Develops World's First Wireless IP Door Reader5 April 2005
ISONAS Security Systems announced today the release of the world's first wireless IP door reader for the access control/security industry. The new readers, incorporating Lantronix (Nasdaq:LTRX) wireless technology, connect directly to an IP network and eliminate the need for traditional security control panels and expensive wiring. The new solutions are easy to install and configure, enabling businesses to more easily adopt access control, time and attendance or emergency response technology. What was traditionally a complicated configuration and installation is now as simple as installing wireless access points on a network. The approach is made possible by combining award-winning ISONAS access control technology with the Lantronix WiPort(TM), an embedded device that can easily make virtually any device accessible via an IP network.
Utilizing Lantronix WiPort, the ISONAS door reader controller is now equipped with the industry standard 802.11 wireless protocol, making it compatible with virtually any wireless access point on the market. WPA and 128bit WEP encryption also ensure secure communications between the IP door reader and the network. With ISONAS reader software, network administrators can directly monitor and control an almost unlimited number of door readers across the enterprise. The combined solution demonstrates the latest innovation in secure access technology.
"Our WiPort wireless server opens a whole new frontier for OEMs to wirelessly network-enable their products with confidence and ease," said Marc Nussbaum, Lantronix president and CEO. "We are very pleased ISONAS selected Lantronix technology to create the first wireless access control system -- and that they could bring their product to market in a fraction of the time that would otherwise be required."
"This is great news for the small business and the enterprise," said Ken Butte, President of ISONAS. "By merging technologies with Lantronix, we take the value of our products to a whole new level by attaching them directly to the network wired or wirelessly. The WiPort actually enables us to offer a break-through product for our industry." ISONAS' IP Door Reader won "Best New Access Control Product" at last year's ISC Show in Las Vegas because of leadership in access control technology. "Because these new products make it so much easier to install and configure, we expect demand for our technology to grow into areas we've not been able to reach in the past."
ISONAS is accepting orders in April for the new Wireless IP Readers which will be the first product of its kind on the market. The product will retail for $999 and will be shipped starting in June. For more information, visit www.isonas.com.
Both vendors will exhibit at ISC West 2005 (Information Security Conference). Lantronix (booth 25103) and ISONAS (booth 19071) booths will both demo ISONAS' IP door reader controller with WiPort implemented, illustrating the benefits of a wireless solution.
