Itronix GoBook III Earns Laptop Magazine's 'Hot Pick' Rating

23 February 2005

Itronix Corp., a world-class developer of wireless, rugged mobile computing solutions, today announced that its GoBook(R) III laptop received a 4.5 star rating in the February issue of Laptop magazine, earning Laptop's "Hot Pick" designation in the rugged computing category. Praising the GoBook III as a "top-of-the-line laptop," the magazine also declared that the GoBook III "is 50 percent faster than the competing Panasonic CF29," its closest competitor.

The Laptop accolades concur with earlier reviews by Pen Computing and Government Computer News that commended the newest member of the Itronix family of wireless, rugged computers. In October 2004, Pen Computing commented that, "With the GoBook III, Itronix has clearly set new standards and upped the performance bar for the competition." In January 2005, Government Computer News wrote that the GoBook III is on a par "with some of the fastest nonrugged notebooks we've tested."

"We are extremely pleased to have the GoBook III recognized as the leading wireless rugged laptop available today by a top-tier publication such as Laptop magazine," said Matthew Gerber, senior vice president of product line marketing for Itronix. "This 4.5 star rating offers further industry validation of what our customers have told us -- that the GoBook III addresses their requirements for a faster rugged computer, superior battery performance, and the most advanced and flexible wireless communications capabilities available."

Southwest Gas chose the GoBook III to deploy to its utilities field technicians. "The faster processor speed, internal GPS, increased video graphics, multiple wireless network capability, and improved heat tolerance all add up to a mobile computing solution that we can confidently rely on each and every day," said Richard McNutt, project manager, Southwest Gas. "All aspects of our GoBook III evaluation met or surpassed our expectations."

Other highlights from the Laptop review include:

-- "Itronix bills its GoBook III as the world's fastest wireless rugged notebook, but leaving it at that would be selling this system short. This is a top-of-the-line laptop that is not only virtually bulletproof, but can connect to any wireless network you can think of!" -- "This is one tough customer that compares favorably to Panasonic's Toughbook CF29." -- "Thoughtful touches abound, like the glow-in-the-dark keyboard, a stealth start-up mode, and the ability to keep the cooling fan turned off." -- "Communications is top shelf, with a V92 modem, 100-Mps LAN as well as Intel WiFi and Bluetooth radios." -- "The GoBook III proves that ruggedness no longer comes with inferior performance; it all adds up to a machine that delivers a MobileMark 2002 score of 173, which is very much in line with other 1.8 GHz Pentium M systems."

About the GoBook III

Introduced in September 2004, the GoBook III laptop computer is the fastest wireless, rugged laptop computer for mission-critical mobile applications. Based on the latest generation Intel(R) Centrino(TM) mobile technology, which includes the Intel Pentium(R) M processor 745 at 1.8 GHz and ATI's Radeon Mobility video engine, the GoBook III is a powerful mobile computing solution that enables organizations to successfully deploy a broad range of complex software applications and gives users significantly longer and better battery performance compared to previous generation rugged systems.

The GoBook III's superior security and wireless communications capabilities include integrated high-performance GPS, simultaneous support for up to three wireless networks, and an optional smart card reader and fingerprint scanner.
