Leap Applauds CPUC's Decision To Stay Proposed Wireless Consumer Protection Rules30 January 2005
Following Wednesday's decision by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to postpone proposed wireless consumer protection rules, Leap and Cricket released an official company statement applauding Commissioner Kennedy's leadership and the Commission's decision to stay the rules.
In an official statement, Leap CEO and Director William Freeman said, "We are pleased with the Commission's decision to stay the rules. We have worked hard to comply with the unnecessary provisions put forth last year."
Freeman continued, "The provisions made it more expensive for us to continue offering value-conscious California consumers our unique wireless alternative, while providing little incremental benefit to Cricket customers. With this stay, we can now continue to compete in the marketplace on price and quality instead of serving the needs of regulators above consumers."
