Lee County, Georgia & Camvera Announce Countywide Wireless Initiative15 December 2005
Camvera Networks, Inc., a managed telecommunications services provider of solutions for municipal governments and utilities, today announced a wireless broadband initiative and agreement with Lee County, Georgia. Camvera Networks, Inc. will design, engineer, deploy and operate a "last mile" high-speed broadband managed wireless service that utilizes "pre WIMAX" non-line-of-sight (NLOS) and line-of-sight (LOS) wireless technology solutions. With this design, a countywide "wireless cloud" will be created that will deliver broadband services to residents and businesses throughout the county, as well as provide additional services to public safety vehicles. The new service brings DSL and T-1 speeds to the area and will reach out to areas not normally covered with cable or DSL service.
"With the new wireless broadband solution, we now have the ability to bring affordable high-speed Internet and other enhanced services to Lee County businesses and residents," stated Lee County Chairman Jackie Sizemore. "Further, the ability to deliver high-speed broadband services to public safety vehicles, such as the Sheriff's patrol vehicles, enhances our ability to increase our law enforcement effectiveness and capabilities." Sizemore continued, "This additional service will be a big plus for attracting new businesses and jobs, and the residents are looking forward to the new service as well."
