Millenigence Now Avaya-Compliant30 August 2005
Millenigence Inc.'s DashPhone Application Server, DashPhone CXP, and Time Sheet Express are now compatible with key Internet Protocol (IP) telephony systems from Avaya, the companies announced this morning. Millenigence's DashPhone Application Server, a device-agnostic data services platform, allows application providers and integrators to integrate existing data, or business logic, into their IP-enabled systems. The Millenigence DashPhone CXP content translation software provides access to WAP and XML applications on Avaya IP Phones. According to a news announcement released by both companies today, Millenigence "created a device-agnostic software agent that allows IP telephony ISVs and Integrators to broaden the reach of content, through real-time translation, without having to re-write software." Millenigence's Avaya-certified Time Sheet Express application offers businesses with large numbers of hourly employees to use their Avaya IP Phones as a clock-in/out device and enables basic human resources functionality. Each of these Millenigence IP Telephony data services software offerings are available now and compliance tested by Avaya for compatibility with the Avaya Communications Manager and the Avaya 4620 IP Phones. "We are very pleased that our products have been compliance tested by Avaya and are available for distribution through the Avaya sales channels,'' stated Saied Kazemi, president of Irvine, Calif.-based Millenigence. "Avaya customers will achieve a higher return on their IP Telephony investments by taking advantage of the new data capabilities now available on their Avaya IP Phones. Avaya IP Telephony ISVs and integrators benefit from this compliance testing effort which makes Millenigence software readily available for their application development and integration projects.'' Millenigence is now a Premier Member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection (DevConnect) Program, "an initiative to serve customer needs by developing, marketing and selling innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya products and services that deliver intelligent business communications solutions," described the release. To date there are more than 1,000 members of the DevConnect program worldwide and more than 260 systems have been compliance-tested for interoperability with Avaya's open, standards-based applications. "Working with DevConnect partners like Millenigence, we're giving our customers the opportunity to use new intelligent business communications to drive productivity, improve processes and make the user experience more satisfying,'' said Eric Rossman, director of the Avaya DeveloperConnection Program. "The benefit of a technology like DashPhone when used with our Communications Manager and IP Phones is that it give businesses an innovative and effective alternative for capturing and retrieving data.''
Today's news follows Avaya's announcement about a new partnership with Intel to optimize the SIP-based, IP telephony softphone for laptop PCs with Intel's Centrino mobile technology. The companies also announced last week that they will collaborate to improve the integration, control and functionality of Bluetooth devices used in conjunction with the softphone client. Specifically, the Avaya Softphone will be optimized for the Intel Centrino mobile technology bundling packet prioritization, bandwidth reservation and call admission control. According to the news release, this will help enable the Avaya softphone to "provide consistent quality of service across both wired and wireless networks using industry standards such as 802.11e." This would also allow mobile workers to, for example, link a laptop computer into remote wired and wireless networks and run various business applications simultaneously while using an Avaya softphone.
