Mobile Imaging Summit Europe 2005 to Feature Keynote on "The European Union View" by Luis Rodríguez-Roselló

10 May 2005

Future Image Inc., the leading independent center of expertise on the convergence of imaging, information technology and telecommunications, and I3A (International Imaging Industry Association), the leading global association for the imaging industry, announced today that the Mobile Imaging Summit Europe, scheduled for June 7- 8 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, will close with a Keynote Luncheon by Luis Rodríguez-Roselló, Head of Directorate D -- Network and Communication Technologies, Networked Audiovisual Systems -- at the European Commission. During this luncheon sponsored by Microsoft Corporation, Rodríguez-Roselló will discuss the latest initiatives and key legislative and regulatory developments that will affect business in the mobile imaging sector.

"We're extremely pleased to have a senior representative of the European Commission address the policy and regulatory issues that are key to growing the mobile imaging business in Europe," said Alexis Gerard, President and Founder, Future Image Inc. "We look forward to an extremely valuable dialogue between the EC and our broadly representative group of industry executives, not only through Rodríguez-Roselló's keynote, but also through his presence at a substantial portion of the Mobile Imaging Summit, which will allow for informal conversations and feedback to the EC from the companies present."

Rodríguez-Roselló joined the European Commission in 1989 as Head of Division in Directorate-General "Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research." In 2004 he was appointed Head of the Unit "Networked Audiovisual Systems," where he is responsible for R&D in converging systems AV Telecommunications, Home Networks, Extended Home, Networked Electronic Media, as well as Content creation, delivery and visualization. He is also Director of Research and Development at the Institute for Technologies in Education of the Ministry of Education in Spain. He is the author of numerous books, videotapes, educational software titles and articles on European Research related to eLearning, Multimedia, eGovernment, eInclusion, eWork, Grid Technologies, Research Networks, Telecommunications and the future of the Internet, among other topics.

The Mobile Imaging Summit will kick off with the prestigious Visionary Roundtable. This edition will feature five industry leaders joining Moderator Alexis Gerard, President of Future Image, for a spirited discussion on the topic of "The 2 Megapixel Promise" for the camera-phone and related industries; Juha Putkiranta, Senior VP, Imaging Business Unit, Multimedia Business Group, Nokia; Bernard Masson, President, Digital & Film Imaging System, & Senior Vice President, Eastman Kodak; Larry Lesley, Senior VP, Consumer Imaging and Printing, Hewlett-Packard; Tony Kypreos, VP of Messaging, T-Mobile International; and Lisa Walker, President of I3A. This distinguished group will lead Summit attendees in an interactive discussion of prospects, risks and opportunities, focusing on strategies to take maximum advantage of the advent of next-generation camera-phones.

The subsequent day-and-a-half program will cover key topics including Tony Henning's eagerly anticipated State of the Industry; the evolution of the camera-phone with respect to digital cameras, PDAs/Smartphones, and Mobile Entertainment Centers; the integration of Mobile Imaging with Home printing, media centers and networks; challenges and opportunities for retail and online imaging services providers; and a New Technologies Showcase. The complete program is available at www.mobileimagingsummit.com.

The Mobile Imaging Summit conferences, now in their third year, are limited-attendance events open to senior executives that bring together thought leaders from the imaging, information processing, content and telecommunications industries to accelerate revenue growth in the camera-phone ecosystem. The Spring session focuses on the European markets and takes place in Amsterdam, whereas the fall session is located in Monterey (California) and focuses on the Americas. An Asia session will debut in 2006. The content, venue and amenities are all carefully designed to maximize opportunities for participants to identify areas of mutual business advantage, and to make the high-level connections that enable market leadership and drive competitive advantage. Sessions are conducted in a highly interactive format, drawing on Future Image's extensive research and a stellar lineup of industry speakers to highlight key issues and promoting discussion onstage and off.

Sponsors of the Mobile Imaging Summits 2005 include Nokia (platinum), BluePrint Partners, Cognima, Digimarc, dotPhoto, DxO Labs, Eastman Kodak, Hewlett-Packard, Lumileds Lighting, Microsoft, Motorola, Neven Vision, netomat, Realeyes3D, Silverwire, Sprint, and association sponsors photokina and CTIA Wireless 2005. Complete information on the event is available at www.mobileimagingsummit.com.
