IDG's Computerworld, the "Voice of IT Management," today announced it is seeking IT end-user case study submissions for its "Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless" Awards Program. The awards will be presented at the Mobile & Wireless World (M&WW) conference being held June 13-15 at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz.
This awards program will evaluate end-user case studies according to their substantiated mobile and wireless attributes and achievements. Nominations are currently being accepted online at http://survey.computerworld.com/surveys/mwwBestPrac05/ mwwbestprac05.htm. Computerworld will recognize 10 winners, with two awards presented in each of five categories and one honorable mention per category. Winners will be named on the event web site and in a press release, and may also be featured in a special supplement of Computerworld.
An esteemed panel consisting of mobile and wireless experts, industry editors, and IT business analysts from firms such as IDC will evaluate the submissions in these categories:
-- Deploying Wireless Mobility in the Enterprise - recognizing the ability of the IT organization to map and meet line-of-business challenges through top-down planning for wireless infrastructure.
-- Transforming the "Brick and Mortar" Enterprise - identifying organizations that have opened new areas of profitability and performance by transcending "brick and mortar" limitations.
-- Business Evolution Through Mobilizing Field Workers - recognizing the adoption of mobile and wireless strategies in the nontraditional mobile workforce. Evaluating the field worker's ability to connect with corporate applications and data to get business done in a remote business environment.
-- Managing Cellular Mobile Data - best practices for building and managing PDA-based mobile networks designed to remain compatible with enterprise needs on a long-term basis.
-- Securing Wireless LANs - recognizing what organizations are doing to continually assess and address the risks and threats associated with a wireless LAN environment.
The program judges will review and rank the finalists in each of the categories based on their mobile and wireless achievements, which will be measured against criteria such as return on investment, strategic/substantive importance to the business, customer impact, positive impact on other business/organization units, and ability to address challenges of data, information and application security, recovery, business continuity, etc. For the full outline of criteria, please reference http://survey.computerworld.com/surveys/mwwBestPrac05/ mwwbestprac05.htm.
