Mobility XE from NetMotion Wireless Becomes First Mobile VPN Certified for Microsoft Windows Mobile Smartphone

27 June 2006

NetMotion Wireless, the industry leader among Mobile VPN solution providers, announced today that Mobility XE, the company's flagship product, has achieved certification through Microsoft's Mobile2Market program. Mobility XE is now the first and only VPN to be certified by Microsoft as a "Designed for Windows Mobile" solution for Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone.

"Thanks to advancements such as Windows Mobile 5.0, mobile computing is becoming a common part of mainstream enterprise IT practices," said Bob Hunsberger, president and CEO of NetMotion Wireless. "But true enterprise mobile computing is about more than email and the internet -- it's about reliable access to enterprise applications, protected by rock-solid security and supported by centralized management that incorporates every device type an organization uses. That's our mission as well and it's what we provide through Mobility XE."

Interoperability with Windows Mobile 5.0 is becoming increasingly important as the number of Windows Mobile 5.0 powered devices deployed among mobile workers grows. According to a recent IDC report, Windows Mobile deployments saw a 77 percent increase between Q1 '05 and Q1 '06.

"Microsoft is highly attuned to the needs of mobile enterprise customers and their need for a flexible, customizable platform like Windows Mobile 5.0," said John O'Rourke, general manager Mobile and Embedded Devices, Microsoft Corporation. "Windows Mobile 5.0 powered devices and Mobility XE help enterprises undertake deployments of any size while providing reliable, secure access to core enterprise applications and resources over wireless networks."

The Mobility XE Mobile VPN keeps enterprise workers securely connected to critical data and applications -- even as they roam in and out of coverage gaps or from network to network. Mobility XE turns a multi-network environment into a single unified network, maintaining application sessions so mobile workers can work without disruption. Noted for its ease of use, security and IT policy management capabilities, Mobility XE is deployed by hundreds of businesses to keep hundreds of thousands of their mobile workers productive.

About NetMotion Wireless, Inc.

Formed by the merger of NetMotion Wireless and Padcom, the company is the acknowledged industry leader among mobile VPN solution providers. Mobility XE, the company's flagship product, enables hundreds of thousands of mobile workers in more than 900 organizations worldwide to get connected and stay connected to critical business applications over wireless networks. Because of its outstanding technology, NetMotion Wireless has received more than 20 product awards, including an Editor's Choice designation from Network Computing. About NetMotion Mobility XE's Mobile2Market Certification

Mobility XE achieved both logo certification and application code signing through the Mobile2Market program. Logo certification requires application design in accordance with Windows Mobile best practices. Application code signing refers to the process through which an application is digitally "signed" or authenticated to enable it to run on a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone.
