Motorola Brings Canopy Wireless Broadband Products to Europe11 January 2005
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) today announced that it has introduced into European markets three new Canopy Advantage™ wireless broadband radio products that can provide affordable broadband services to unserved and underserved markets. The new radios operate in the 2.4, 5.4 and 5.7 GigaHertz bands.
Carriers, service providers and private network operators now can benefit from Motorola’s Canopy solution, which is an always-on, cost-effective high-speed broadband solution that can be configured to transport data, voice and Internet protocol video.
Motorola’s design and proprietary technology incorporate a global positioning system (GPS), multiple layers of encryption and interference protection. Canopy radios are small, easy to install and unobtrusive, which are appealing benefits in historic and notable architectural locations. The Canopy solution has been designed from a feature and price perspective for Internet service providers and private networks operators to deliver broadband to residences and businesses. Service providers will be able to offer increased data speeds, performance and quality of service to their customers, including high-quality voice over Internet protocol (VoIP).
With its recently announced Canopy Advantage™ Platform, Motorola also provides an evolution to support future license exempt WiMAX products.
“Motorola’s Canopy Advantage Platform provides European broadband service providers an opportunity to deliver high bandwidth without having to spend large sums of money on spectrum and infrastructure, particularly in unserved and underserved markets. Additionally, the Canopy platform provides a cost-effective transport layer for seamless mobility,” said Tony Kobrinetz, vice president and general manager of Motorola’s Canopy Wireless Broadband group.
