New Motorola Wireless Voice-Over-IP Gateway Broadens Home Connectivity Options for DSL Subscribers7 June 2006
Building on its heritage of delivering innovative, multifunction devices that re-define home connectivity and communication, Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today introduced a new wireless gateway that combines voice, data, and network functionality for DSL users. The Motorola Home Hub (HH) 1620 DSL VoIP Wireless Gateway enables carriers to offer high-speed data and voice-over-IP (VoIP) services to consumers, while simplifying installation and enhancing security. Motorola will showcase this new innovation at Global Comm 2006 (4-8 June, McCormick Place, Chicago, Stand # 27031). The Motorola HH1620 combines powerful communication features with advanced security and simplified installation. The product includes an 802.11b/g wireless access point, a four-port router, a USB 2.0 Host Connection, a USB 1.1 slave connection, as well as a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based VoIP adapter. This technology allows the HH1620 to run consumers' home networks - wired and wireless -- and power standard telephones with VoIP service. The Motorola HH1620 uses industry standard SIP signaling protocols to provide an all-in-one solution - offering users advanced ADSL2/2+ technology for higher speeds and longer reach for their high-speed Internet access. Additional features of the Motorola HH1620 include: -- Home Network Connectivity - Access high-speed data connections from anywhere in the home with an 802.11 b/g wireless access point and a four-port wired router as well as a USB 2.0 host connection and a USB 1.1 slave connection. -- Voice-over-Data Prioritization - Ensures high-quality voice calls while accessing the Internet. -- Rich CLASS Phone Features - Caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling, and call forwarding. -- Multiple Phone Line Support- Enables delivery of up to two lines of full-featured phone service. -- Advanced Security - Protects voice calls and data with 802.11i security and pre-authentication, IPSEC/PPTP/L2TP NAT tunneling (for VPN pass-through), and Secure Mobile Pairing with push-button set-up. -- Redundant Connectivity - Equipped with PSTN fail-over Protection Feature, in the event of ADSL signal loss or power outage. -- Remote Management - Supports TR-069 extensions for remote provisioning, management and diagnosis; TR-104 (VoIP provisioning), and TR-098 (QoS provisioning). -- Video Support - As a triple play platform, HH1620's Integrated ADSL2/2+ modem provides sufficient throughput bandwidth for video and support for multiple QoS mechanisms, such as VLAN tagging and diffserv, which allows the HH1620 to meet operators' diverse requirements. -- Single Unit Convenience - Eliminates cost and clutter of multiple stand-alone devices. "Consumers today want a single device to integrate multiple functions - from telephony to Internet access - and they want it to be easy to install and use," said Charles Dougherty, Motorola corporate vice president and general manager, Connected Home Solutions. "This latest Motorola gateway enables carriers to offer their DSL customers a single device that addresses multiple communication requirements and eliminates the need for additional routers, hubs, and wireless access points." Simplified, Secure Set-Up The Motorola HH1620 features Broadcom(R) SecureEasySetup(TM) technology, which reduces the process of setting up a wireless network and installing WPA security to pushing a button. SecureEasySetup(TM) enters complicated configuration settings automatically, eliminating the need to manually configure the device. The Motorola HH1620 is scheduled for general availability this summer. About Motorola Motorola is known around the world for innovation and leadership in wireless and broadband communications.
