Onset Announces New METAmessage Emergency Communications Package for BlackBerry With Enhanced Read/Receipt Capabilities

25 October 2005

Onset Technology, a leading developer of
software for wireless handheld devices, announced today the availability of
a new version of METAmessage® - Emergency Communications. This version
adds the ability to display immediate, clear updates on which emergency
messages have been read and received. The notifications, which appear in an
Outlook-like "Preview Pane" that can show complete Sender and Subject
information and the first line of the message body for any email or PIN
communication, indicate the results of both email and PIN blasts to
multiple users and individual messages. The Read/Receipt capability, along
with other vital Emergency Communications features, was specifically
designed for users of the BlackBerry® wireless platform from Research In
Motion (RIM) (NASDAQ: RIMM) (TSX: RIM).

The Read/Receipt feature is supported on devices from all carriers and does
not require any carrier-specific applications.

"Our government customers asked for the ability to know, at a glance, who
had read emergency messages sent from their BlackBerry handhelds using
METAmessage PIN blast," said Gadi Mazor, Onset's president and CEO. "With
our new preview pane, they can open their Inbox and immediately see how
many addressees have received the message and how many have opened it. This
is just one of the ways that METAmessage - Emergency Communications will
help COOP and public safety teams use BlackBerry for top performance in
emergencies as well as upcoming drills."

METAmessage - Emergency Communications is an out-of-the-box solution for
any enterprise or government agency that wants to leverage their BlackBerry
deployment into an emergency communications network. The solution lets
users:
-- Update accurate PIN addresses automatically;
-- Blast PIN messages to groups and distribution lists;
-- Force message alerts to ensure immediate notifications;
-- Know when messages are received and read;
-- Archive all PIN communications for post-event analysis; and,
-- Store vital documents on handhelds for access regardless of coverage.

When used in conjunction with other METAmessage products, BlackBerry users
can spell check messages, get contact info from CRM applications,
Microsoft® Exchange, or IBM Lotus Notes®, print anywhere, update
time-and-billing, set custom message alerts, get quick info, access
virtually any information source, and much more.

METAmessage for Wireless also provides Legal, Financial, Professional
Services, and Voice solutions for the BlackBerry platform using both
BlackBerry Mobile Data System™ and BlackBerry email protocols.
