RFID Leaders Team to Provide Nationwide Compliance Service to DoD Suppliers

5 February 2006

Productivity by RFID, Mil-Pac Technology and Printronix, three leaders in RFID, announce their teamwork in launching RFID Expediter: Turnkey Compliance Service. RFID Expediter provides Department of Defense (DoD) suppliers with a complete, rapid, cost effective way to comply with DoD Radio Frequency Identification policy. The policy, which became effective November 14, 2005, impacts an estimated 60,000 Defense suppliers across the nation. RFID Expediter allows DoD suppliers to achieve full compliance without any purchase of hardware or software. RFID Expediter provides custom encoded military specification RFID labels for customers to apply to cases and pallets shipped to DoD depots. It utilizes electronic data interchange to communicate an Advanced Ship Notice (ASN) to the DoD's Wide Area Workflow (WAWF) network. Both RFID labels and ASN are required by DoD policy.

Robert Steinberg, President of Productivity by RFID, explains; «Basically, RFID Expediter allows DoD Suppliers to outsource RFID compliance. It relieves them from buying RFID hardware and software, developing RFID expertise, encoding RFID labels, manually inputting data or EDI for filing Advanced Ship Notices. Furthermore, it eliminates the risk of investing in first generation RFID technology that's rapidly obsolescing as Gen 2 RFID hardware and tags become available.»

To begin RFID Expediter service, customers register at www.productivitybyrfid.com and download a special version of Std-Barc, Mil-Pac's time-proven, field-tested military compliance labeling software. Customers input their military shipping label information into Std-Barc and are seamlessly transported to a secure checkout for payment by credit card. Productivity by RFID receives the data and employs industry leading Printronix hardware to print human readable and bar code information and to encode RFID data. RFID Expediter labels are shipped to the customer overnight and the Advanced Ship Notice is electronically filed with DoD's Wide Area Workflow. The customer merely applies RFID Expediter labels to cases and pallets being shipped to the DoD. Productivity by RFID is currently accepting orders for RFID Expediter service. A product brochure can be found at www.productivitybyrfid.com/files/RFID_Expediter_pr.pdf
