Samsung Recognized With Technology Marketing Award at CTIA WIRELESS 2006; 'World in Your Hand' Sculpture Honored as Effective Outdoor Marketing Tool9 April 2006
Samsung announced today that its "World in Your Hand" phone sculpture was selected as a winner in the Outdoor Promotions category of the Technology Marketing Award at CTIA WIRELESS 2006. This awards program is design to reward excellence in marketing communications and to give recognition to CTIA WIRELESS 2006 exhibitors who have demonstrated creativity and innovation while promoting a wireless product or service. Samsung's "World in Your Hand" sculpture features a 10-foot-tall bronze hand holding a wireless phone, which displays live camera images and multimedia content on its working screen. This sculpture, installed at Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Airport's new international Terminal D in July 2005, is an extension of an ongoing global marketing program by Samsung to place these "World in Your Hand" phone sculptures at major international airports worldwide. "We're proud that our 'World in Your Hand' sculpture at DFW Airport has been recognized for its effectiveness in communicating Samsung's brand and product leadership," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president, Samsung. "We're able to greet a broad international audience with this eye-catching piece and connect with them by providing entertaining content on the oversized screen." "Marketers are always looking for more innovative ways to cut through the clutter and reach consumers," said Robert Mesirow, vice president and show director for CTIA WIRELESS. "We are proud to reward marketing professionals who displayed a high level of creativity in the execution of their campaigns. On behalf of CTIA, we congratulate Samsung on this accomplishment and look forward to their continued innovation in the field of outdoor communications and promotions." More than 80 applications were submitted and reviewed by a panel of recognized members of the media, industry analysts and executives, as well as select show attendees. Products were judged on originality and creativity, ease of use, overall appeal, clarity of message and recall value. Award recipients were announced today in a ceremony at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the CTIA WIRELESS 2006 show.
