Small Hotels… Big Advantage: Wi-Fi Guys Helps Position Hoteliers to do Big Business

21 October 2005

Wi-Fi Guys, LLC, a state-of-the-art provider of managed Internet solutions for hotels and public facilities, has gone one step further by installing big technology in small boutique hotels. This Minnesota-based company offers cutting-edge technology by installing two Internet connections to ensure top performance and reliability to its customers. Such high-tech enhancements are increasingly essential in helping hoteliers fill rooms, and exemplify the performance that clients of Wi-Fi Guys have come to expect.
Wi-Fi Guys began installing dual connections to address the changing requirements of guests: As more companies implement Virtual Private Networks to protect data, internet circuits in hotels are becoming over-utilized. Wi-Fi Guys’ solutions - providing redundant connections - not only furnish highly reliable connectivity, but increase the quantity of static IP addresses crucial for business travelers attempting to access corporate VPN’s.
“Business travelers demand high-productivity when they are traveling,” states Tom Sullivan, Chief Manager of Wi-Fi Guys. “Their connection must be hassle-free, reliable and equal to what they have back at the office in order for them to be productive while traveling. That is our goal with every installation.”

Each hotel or resort may now have both T-1 and DSL service with two different service providers. Guests now have access to each carrier’s bandwidth: If one provider’s service falters, they seamlessly maintain their connection via the other carrier, without interruption.
“This upgrade is significantly superior and more reliable when compared to traditional HSIA installations found in most hotels today,” confirms Jay Lewis, Vice President of Wi-Fi Guys.”
Wi-Fi Guys take pride in the company motto “Do it Right the First Time,” and states that they make getting connected, staying connected and ensuring that things are easy for guests is their first priority.
Wi-Fi Guys has also serviced hotels currently under contract with other providers, analyzing and monitoring system performance while improving efficiency and reliability
Recent installs of systems incorporating dual Internet connections include:
Coastal Hotel Group
Coastal Hotel Group is a privately held, Seattle-based hotel management company specializing in small luxury hotels, resorts, inns and lodges. Recent upgrades by Wi-Fi Guys included the Spindrift Inn, the Best Western Victorian Inn, The Monterey Bay Inn in Monterey, CA (collectively known as the Inns of Monterey) and The Salish Lodge and Spa near Seattle, WA.
Recently, The Inns of Monterrey hosted a meeting for Cisco Systems. Wi-Fi Guys were called in to upgrade the wireless networks to help support the additional guests that would be utilizing the hotels HSIA network. Wi-Fi Guys went above-and-beyond by adding additional static IP’s, enabling Cisco employees to access their corporate network via multiple VPN’s connections. This enabled The Inns of Monterrey to accommodate the large meeting while maintaining high speed, reliable service for hotel guests.
Wi-Fi Guys reconfigured the hotel’s T-1 internet connection, incorporating a bandwidth aggregator to allow for the installation of DSL service on the same network. Not only did this approach establish the desired redundancy - by providing two separate internet provider connections to the internet backbone - it coincidentally increased both the available bandwidth and the static IP address pool, to the benefit of the hotel’s corporate guests.
“With the ever changing technology needs of our corporate guests, we felt it was necessary to go beyond our guests expectations with respect to internet access,” states Inns of Monterey Vice President and General Manager, Randy Venard. “Fast, reliable and easy to access readily defines the HSIA networks at each of our hotels. Our guests now experience Internet connectivity on par with that of their corporate offices. Not many hotels offer that type of experience today and we believe it offers us a competitive advantage.” Venard concludes; “Thanks to the innovative approach of Wi-FI Guys, our hotels are well positioned to meet and exceed the future needs of our guests.”
Wi-Fi Guys service provides substantial benefits to travelers including; unlimited use of reliable, secure high-speed wireless Internet access; 24 hour toll-free technical support, and ease of use.
