Cordless Scanners, GPS Navigation Tools, Modems and Connection Kits Improve Mobility and Efficiency for Mobile Professionals
Socket Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:SCKT), the Mobile Connection(TM) Company, today announced the addition of the Socket USB Adapter with Bluetooth(R) Wireless Technology to its comprehensive set of cordless product offerings. The USB Adapter enables wireless connections from Windows PCs and notebooks to other Bluetooth enabled devices such as phones, printers, PDA's and Socket's cordless products via the USB port.
"Socket Communications has assembled a world-class Cordless product line ideal for the mobile professional looking to eliminate cables and improve mobility and efficiency," said Peter Phillips, vice president of marketing at Socket Communications. "As Bluetooth wireless technology continues to gain momentum throughout the world of mobile devices, we will continue to respond to customer demands and market needs to produce innovative new cordless solutions using Bluetooth wireless technology."
Since 2000, when Socket introduced the first CompactFlash Card with Bluetooth wireless technology, it has continued to introduce innovative cordless solutions, providing connectivity without cables, while using less power.
Socket's cordless product line provides solutions that allow customers to Bluetooth enable existing devices:
-- The Socket USB Adapter is a Class 1 device (range up to 100 meters/300 feet) enabling users of laptop, notebook or desktop computers to secure a cordless connection to any Bluetooth enabled device.
-- The Socket CF Connection Kit with PC Card Adapter enables Windows notebooks and Tablet PCs to use a Bluetooth enabled phone as a wireless gateway using the Socket Cordless Card, a Type I CF card. The Socket CF card is the only card on the market with an integrated antenna, which along with the PC card adaptor fits flush within the device.
-- The Socket SDIO Connection Kit for Windows Mobile allows users to add Bluetooth wireless technology and connect their Pocket PC to any Bluetooth enabled phone using the smallest and lightest form factor card available.
Socket's broad line of external products that connect using Bluetooth wireless technology include:
-- Socket Cordless Hand Scanner combines the power of laser bar code scanning with the convenience of Bluetooth wireless technology in a lightweight, ergonomic handheld device.
-- Socket Cordless 56K Modem provides access to the Internet from a Pocket PC, Palm PDA or Windows notebook without cables.
-- The Socket GPS Nav Kit is a cable-free GPS receiver bundled with the award-winning MyNavigator(TM) in-car navigation software that transforms notebooks and Pocket PCs into hands-free, voice prompted GPS navigation devices.
-- Socket Cordless Serial Adapter replaces a conventional RS-232 serial cable with a cordless connection, communicating with another Cordless Serial Adapter or other Bluetooth enabled devices.
