SonicWALL Extends Secure Wireless Leadership With New Solutions and Alliance Partners

11 August 2005

SonicWALL, Inc., today expanded its secure wireless portfolio with the
introduction of the SonicPoint G managed access point, which combines with
SonicWALL security appliances to create secure networks supporting SonicWALL's
Unified Threat Management services. Additionally, SonicWALL has launched a
secure wireless technology alliance bringing together a select group of global
technology innovators whose solutions add new capabilities to SonicWALL's
wireless offerings and enable SonicWALL channel partners to deliver a broader
range of secure, flexible wired and wireless network options.

The SonicPoint G is an affordable, flexible 802.11b/g managed access point
featuring removable 5dbi omni-directional antennas. Also available in a fixed
antenna 802.11a/b/g option, SonicPoint access points are automatically
configured, centrally managed and updated by SonicWALL's latest-generation
deep inspection firewalls to deliver its Secure Distributed Wireless Solution.
This powerful, simple solution scales to meet the wireless needs of mid- to
large-sized networks, and incorporates features such as wireless intrusion
detection services, wireless firewalling, secure wireless roaming and wireless
guest services.

Steve Weeks, president of network and security services consulting firm
Netcetera, SonicWALL's largest reseller in Canada, has implemented numerous
wireless networks based on SonicPoint access points. "One of the things our
clients like about the solution is that it is simple to integrate into an
existing network," observed Weeks. "Once you have configured your wireless LAN
using the SonicWALL governing device, the SonicPoints pretty much
self-configure when they are attached. The fact that the client can use Power
over Ethernet injectors eliminates the need to run electrical wiring to the
access point locations, which makes the physical installation much easier."

SonicWALL Wireless Technology Alliance
SonicWALL's wireless technology alliance adds key components to
SonicWALL's secure wireless solution set to boost the addressable markets open
to SonicWALL channel partners. Channel partner benefits include collateral,
interoperability testing and solution documentation. More information can be
found at: http://www.sonicwall.com/products/wirelessstrategic.html .

"Without a secure wireless solution, you might as well take your entire
investment in perimeter security and throw it away," said Michael A. Simon,
chief technology officer at Conjungi Networks, a SonicWALL Gold Medallion
partner and a Network Chemistry reseller. "Unprotected wireless usage opens
the network to all manner of security threats from ad hoc wireless networks.
SonicWALL's technology alliance program brings together a set of the
industry's best and most innovative solutions for securing and managing
integrated wired and wireless networks."

Founder members of SonicWALL's wireless technology alliance are specialist
providers of market-leading wireless and networking solutions whose
technologies interoperate seamlessly with SonicWALL's security platforms.

-- Axis Communications is the global leader in network IP video and
digital surveillance technology, specializing in professional network
video solutions for remote monitoring, surveillance and broadcasting.
Over three million Axis Communications products are deployed globally.
-- HyperLink Technologies is an industry leader in the development of
extended-range wireless LAN and wireless Internet systems. Their broad
range of external antennas and NEMA weatherproof enclosures protect
wireless access points from environmental threats such as heat, cold,
dust and rain as well as preventing theft and tampering. HyperLink's
NEMA enclosures are used in vertical markets where the protection and
enhancement of 802.11 deployments is crucial, including education,
government, healthcare, transportation, retail and manufacturing.
-- Network Chemistry is an award-winning RF security company providing
cutting-edge 802.11 intrusion detection and prevention. Network
Chemistry's wireless specific security monitoring and analysis systems
enable companies to dramatically improve and protect the security and
performance of their wireless LANs.
-- PowerDsine is a leading provider of Power over Ethernet (PoE)
technology that allows power to be transmitted over the same network
cable as data. In addition to offering the SonicWALL 1-port PoE
injector, SonicWALL is partnering with PowerDSine to offer 6-, 12- and
24-port midspans for more concentrated points of deployment.

"This alliance will open new markets for our channel partners," said
Douglas Brockett, vice president and general manager at SonicWALL. "With an
increasing number of businesses providing wireless access within the LAN,
there is widespread demand for combined management and security for the entire
network, and an increased need for flexibility in their solutions. SonicWALL's
technology alliance offers our partners access to many new options enabling
them to break new ground in delivering creative solutions for environments
such as campuses, multi-building developments or office parks."
Supporting these new initiatives, SonicWALL has also created a set of
marketing resources including solutions guides, web and print advertising, and
step-by-step demand generation tools to help channel partners develop end-user
understanding of the issues involved in creating a secure wireless network.
Further information on SonicWALL's wireless demand generation resources is

Eight-packs of the SonicPoint G are available for $2,700 and individual
units are priced at $395.00.
