South Carolina Sees Wireless Network Improvements in 2005 With Verizon Wireless' $51 Million Investment23 February 2006
Verizon Wireless today announced the completion of a $51 million enhancement to its South Carolina voice and data wireless network in 2005. The investment includes adding and updating cell sites and other technologies to improve call quality, increase coverage areas, and allow a variety of advanced services for customers. Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion -- on average $5 billion every year -- since the company was formed six years ago to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new capabilities. Verizon Wireless is dedicated to delivering outstanding customer satisfaction by providing dependable wireless coverage to over 51 million customers.
During the past year, Verizon Wireless customers across the Palmetto state have benefited from increased coverage and enhanced wireless service. Along the coast, vacationers and beach residents in Charleston and Myrtle Beach benefited from the Verizon Wireless investment. In particular, locations such as the New Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in Charleston, along Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach and Highway 701 from Conway to Georgetown. In the Midlands, downtown Columbia and Rosewood Dr. received coverage enhancements as well as Highway 10 near Greenwood in the Upstate.
