Symmetricom and «xchange Magazine» Present Wireless Network Synchronization Webinar

22 March 2006

SAN JOSE, Calif. (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) March 22, 2006 — Symmetricom, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYMM), a worldwide leader in precise time and frequency products and services, today announced that the company will be presenting a free webinar entitled «Reducing Churn in GSM Networks» along with xchange magazine on Tuesday, March 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT. The webinar will focus on the critical need for wireless carriers to take control of their own network synchronization, particularly with growing competition in the marketplace.

WHO:

Moderator - Khali Henderson, group editor at «PHONE+,» «xchange,» «New Telephony & CSP Network.»

Speakers - Frank Bernhard, analyst at OMNI Research; Paula Bernier, editor-in-chief of «xchange magazine;» and Barry Dropping, senior director of business development at Symmetricom.

WHAT:

Webinar presented by Symmetricom and «xchange,» «Reducing Churn in GSM Networks»

WHEN:

Tuesday, March 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT

WHERE:

Register at www.SymmTSD.com/churn

The webinar will discuss the need for wireless carriers to take control of their own network synchronization, rather than continuing to rely on clock recovery from legacy wireline backhaul connections which present a point of vulnerability for these networks focused on mobile and real-time services. In mobile networks, timing improves mobile hand-offs, call continuity and call completion rates. Proper synchronization can reduce dropped calls by 10 to 25 percent. Providing customers with a consistent service experience is the key to higher customer satisfaction and lower churn. Wireless network operators can learn how to do just that in this free webinar presented by «xchange» and Symmetricom.

Frank Bernhard is a managing principal and advisory economist with OMNI Consulting Group, a firm specializing in the discipline of technology economics. His research in the telecommunications industry spans more than 15 years of analyzing the impact of wireline, wireless and emerging network service provider models. Paula Bernier has more then 15 years in the telecom industry as editor-in-chief of «xchange magazine,» which started in 1996 targeting service providers and has a circulation of over 35,000. Barry Dropping, wireless business development manager at Symmetricom, has over 20 years of experience specializing in timing and synchronization.

The audience will learn:

•

The business case for synchronization

•

The role of synchronization in service quality management

•

How synchronization works

•

The need for synchronization beyond just the Mobile Switching Center

For more information and to obtain a copy of Frank Berhard's whitepaper examining the role of synchronization on Service Quality Management (SQM) please visit: www.symmtsd.com/omni. The effects of churn, subscriber spending propensity and other factors related to synchronization are discussed in their findings of study across domestic GSM carriers.
