Toshibas MyConnect Adds 500 New Wi-Fi Locations21 December 2004
Toshiba's Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. and provider of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related services and products, today announced the addition of nearly 500 new Wi-Fi hotspots nationwide offered through its affordable MyConnect(TM) Internet access service network.
The new hotspot locations include hundreds of new hotels as well as additional cafes and restaurants, campgrounds, truck stops and rest areas, convention centers and shopping malls across the country.
MyConnect provides users of any notebook computer unlimited Internet access via Wi-Fi, broadband cable, DSL or dial-up connection at nearly 21,000 locations for a single monthly price of $39.95. A two-week free trial is available to interested consumers at www.toshibamyconnect.com.
"MyConnect offers travelers with notebook computers a distinct advantage by providing them Internet access in airports, hotels, restaurants and more for one low monthly price," said Raja Narayanan, vice president of mobility solutions for Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems. "A business traveler requiring Internet access could easily pay $10 to $15 at each location several times during the same period."
"With a fast-growing number of new locations, MyConnect makes perfect sense for the notebook user who would like to consolidate and reduce their Internet connection fees," Narayanan said.
