U.S. Joint Forces Command Contracts for Wireless With Cingular26 May 2006
The United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) has ordered wireless voice and data communications services from Cingular Wireless through the federal FISC contracting vehicle. Norfolk, VA-based USJFCOM already has ordered nearly 700 mobile phones, BlackBerry(TM) wireless handhelds and LaptopConnect cards enabled for Cingular's UMTS/HSDPA-based BroadbandConnect service. USJFCOM is the only one of nine combatant commands in the U.S. Department of Defense focused on the transformation of U.S. military capabilities. USJFCOM personnel include members from each branch of the U.S. military, civil servants, contract employees and consultants.
