Verizon Wireless Activates New Cell Site in West Wyoming, Pa.30 April 2006
Verizon Wireless has activated a new cell site in West Wyoming, enabling more area customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls, send and receive text and picture messages, and download games and ringtones while enjoying clearer reception and fewer dropped calls. The new cell site increases network coverage and capacity in the towns of Swoyersville, Wyoming and West Wyoming and along U.S. Route 11 between Swoyersville and the town of Pittston. "During 2005, call volume on our network in Pennsylvania increased by more than 40 percent," said Roger Tang, president-Ohio/Pennsylvania Region, Verizon Wireless. "This new cell site reflects our ongoing commitment to meet the growing needs of our customers and to provide them with the reliable, high quality service they expect from Verizon Wireless." Verizon Wireless has invested $30 billion in the last six years -- $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed -- to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. In 2005, Verizon Wireless invested $240 million in Pennsylvania.
