WildPackets Releases AiroPeek VX, First Portable VoWiFi Analyzer

9 September 2005

WildPackets Inc., celebrating 15 years of advanced network analysis innovation, today released the first-to-market AiroPeek VX v1.0 Expert VoWiFi (Voice over Wireless) analyzer, along with significant upgrades to their widely-adopted AiroPeek SE and NX WLAN analyzer products. All three include simple configuration settings that provide ready enforcement of wireless network security policies, GPS location-tagging to enhance site survey exercises, and real-time application analysis to easily identify performance issues, including those masked by WEP and WPA encryption.

Previews of the new AiroPeek releases were delivered in late August in the APAC by WildPackets CEO, Mahboud Zabetian, as an integral element of a global 15th Anniversary Tour that continues in the US and Europe this fall.

The VoWiFi market is poised to explode in Asia, according to recent analyst reports, with Europe not far behind. "With both wireless and VoIP deployments accelerating in our region, we expect significant interest in AiroPeek VX," said Ron Lee, WildPackets' Director of Sales, APAC. "As the de facto standard for WLAN analysis in Japan in particular, AiroPeek's strong reputation and acceptance will pave the way for our latest releases."

"The AiroPeek product line has had a very large and loyal following worldwide since the SE version first shipped in 2001," noted Mahboud Zabetian, CEO. "Over 6,000 organizations own AiroPeek, and consistently invest in the product's ongoing development through our maintenance programs. A wireless voice product is a natural progression for us and the next step for many of them. Our 15 years of self-funded growth and profitability have been made possible through focused delivery of relevant, affordable solutions for our customers for each emerging technology: in the wired world, in wireless, and now in voice."

Functional, Extensible

From initial deployment to long-term maintenance, the AiroPeek product line covers the full spectrum of wireless LAN management requirements, including site surveys, security assessments, client troubleshooting, WLAN monitoring, remote WLAN analysis, complete VoIP analysis, and application layer protocol analysis. The new versions provide greater flexibility and customization for real time capture and analysis.

Examining the details of VoIP traffic, AiroPeek VX is an essential tool for the deployment and maintenance of VoWiFi. AiroPeek NX and VX feature WildPackets' Visual Expert(TM), proprietary technology that reveals the intricacies of application behavior by dissecting conversations into basic components, while all three products support Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) with Pre-Shared Key (PSK) encryption. Full details on the latest releases can be found at: www.wildpackets.com/products/airopeek/overview.

Availability

All three products are available immediately, with SRPs starting under $1,000.00 USD. Current maintenance customers receive v3.0 of their registered AiroPeek NX or SE product at no cost, along with an affordable upgrade offer for AiroPeek VX.
