SOHOware, a pioneer in wireless LAN, announces the release of EWSA™ software for its AeroGuard™ MIMO WLAN solution that enables the world's first True MIMO™ WLAN Switch, making AeroGuard™ even more differentiated and affordable for solution VARs who support distributed Enterprise, warehouse, hospitality, education, hospital, Hot Spot, event center and recreational facility applications.
The wireless LAN industry has arrived at a useful tiered architecture that utilizes a WLAN switch or a WLAN switch appliance in response to the need by distributed enterprise and SMB for centralized security policy and network management. In this architecture, edge APs are either directly connected to a switch or indirectly connected to a switch appliance through a shared LAN. When multiple switches are deployed, a higher-level NMS is introduced to centrally manage the WLAN network. While the switch or switch appliance is typically a standard hardware platform with embedded software, the edge APs must also have adequate intelligence to meet the performance demands of an application-rich wireless environment. This is the only way a wireless network can offer the benefits of centralized RF, policy, and access control management in a cost-effective and scalable manner.
With EWSA™, SOHOware has uniquely enabled a MIMO WLAN Switch Appliance by embedding the software in every AeroGuard™ MIMO access point. Any AeroGuard™ AP can be configured as a WLAN switch appliance through EWSA™, instantly enabling centralized edge AP enrollment and configuration, security and QoS policy sharing, 3rd party AP auto detection, Layer 3 roaming, network management and much more. For networks hosting multiple MIMO switch appliances, each managing up to 20 edge APs, the AeroGuard™ NMS Appliance is available to complete a hierarchical management environment, making the wireless LAN robust and easy to scale. AeroGuard™ NMS supports up to 3,000 AeroGuard™ switch appliances deployed in multiple sites with an aggregate of 30,000 MIMO APs.
